Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1929. It was a time when black people in America were treated badly, but Martin’s parents taught him to love everyone. When he was older, he became a preacher and moved to Alabama. Martin became a great leader in the fight for civil rights. He led marches and protests and got Americans to pay attention to the struggles of black people in the United States. He won the Nobel Peace Prize, and then, four years later, he was killed in Memphis, Tennessee. His work and dreams still live on.
