One stormy night in Scotland, General Macbeth and his friend, General Banquo, meet three witches. The witches tell Macbeth that he will become the King of Scotland. They tell Banquo that he will be the father of kings.

This prophecy plants the seeds of tragedy in the life of Macbeth, who suddenly cannot stop envisioning himself as king. Spurred on by his greedy wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and ascends the throne. But Macbeth's guilt and fear of being discovered turn being King into a nightmare. Ghoulish visions plague him as he tries to hold on to the throne that he has stolen.

In the end of this story, the righteous are rewarded and the evil receive their just rewards. But the biggest winner in this story is fate, as the witch's cunning prophecy proves more clever than any of the characters can imagine.
