SOLO Writing Coach’s proven gains from short intervention periods are ideal for Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention.

 

Tier 3:  Customized Learning Interventions

Intensive intervention is designed to increase the student’s rate of learning, and focuses on narrowly defined skill areas. In Tier 3 intervention settings, the same intervention is given as Tier 2, but the time and intensity is increased. Smaller student groupings help increase teacher-to-student ratios and increase individualized instruction time. With SOLO Writing Coach, low-performing students show accelerated writing gains with aim lines that reach benchmark performance—helping Tier 3 students catch up to their peers.

Tier 2: Small Group Instruction

Tier 2 intervention is designed for students identified as at-risk who are missing performance benchmarks of the core curriculum. A short intervention period (6-8 weeks) with SOLO Writing Coach helps students catch up quickly and reach writing benchmarks. Approximately 70% of students who receive a Tier 2 intervention should have a positive response to the intervention. A small percentage of students who do not show gains sufficient to reach benchmarks need more time and intensity in Tier 3.
