SOLO Writing Coach was developed by Dr. Karen Erickson, Director of the
Center for Literacy and Disability Studies, University of North
Carolina—Chapel Hill. As a part of the NCTI-awarded research grant, the
Center for Literacy and Disability Studies and educators participating
in the study developed three curriculum units to teach students in late
elementary and the middle grades to write using strategies that address
summary-writing, goal-setting, and paragraph-writing.
