Read:OutLoud 6 is the only one of the top text readers that opens NIMAS and DAISY 3 files without converting the files. There are disadvantages to conversion in that you lose key navigation and description information from the NIMAS file, and you have to manage multiple file versions and chapters.
Some NIMAS files provided by book publishers could be hundreds of megabytes or even several gigabytes in size. Opening a file of this size would take any program to its knees. But Read:OutLoud solves this problem with a proprietary method to open and read large NIMAS instantaneously.

An outline is automatically formed when students highlight text. In Read:OutLoud 6, the outline is completely modifiable—students can add to and modify text in the outline.
Bookshare members can simply click on any of the 50,000 books on Bookshare's website and Read:OutLoud will instantly open the book without unpacking. Anyone can access out-of-copyright books on Bookshare with Read:OutLoud.
