Improv is a new augmentative communication framework driven by Co:Writer technology. It was designed to speed up and drive novel communication.
With Improv, your augmentative communicators won’t be limited to the words programmed in their devices OR the words they can spell. They will have the precise word or phrase available to them by just entering a few letters—whether it’s their favorite movie, restaurant, hobby, or current social studies topic. Even phonetic or inventive spellers can communicate with Co:Writer helping out. These supports help your students transition into literacy-based communication. And as they communicate, Improv learns new vocabulary, phrases, and stories then auto-adapts to improve communication.
Improv does all of this with NO PROGRAMMING required!
Hardware Requirements: Improv works with any Windows-based computer, tablet,or dedicated AAC device

Not all of your augmentative communicators are ready for Improv, but for the ones who are starting to indentify beginning word sounds, Improv may be the best thing to happen to them.
With just a few letters, they can communicate quickly about anything they can conceive of. In fact, they can instantly talk about any topic whether it’s their favorite band, movie, hobby, or upcoming vacation—all without programming!
Let’s say, your student is planning to visit Yellowstone. It’s her first time there, and she plans to use her AAC device. How does she go about communicating the topic? If she’s using a symbol-based device, you may need someone to program new symbols or words into your device. With Improv, your student simply types in “Yellowstone,” and Improv will instantly bring in a library of vocabulary on Yellowstone. Your student can instantly “talk” about the bison, grizzly bears, the climate, and even the pronghorns! You get core and fringe words with NO PROGRAMMING. With just a few keystrokes, and the most basic phonetic spelling, your students can communicate quickly and intelligently. And an entire conversation. And as they communicate, Improv continually learns new words and phrases and gets smarter and smarter.
