Multi-tiered/Response to Intervention (RtI) –Tier 2 and 3

Tier 2 - Small Group Instruction
When you focus on a specific writing assignment, like a book report, use Co:Writer as a supplemental tool for your small group instruction. Our topic dictionaries, like the one for William Shakespeare, is a helpful resource to help students focus on what they want to write without struggling with topic-specific words they know how to speak but not spell. Teachers can quickly create or download customized dictionaries that relate to curriculum or theme-based assignments such as book reports.
Tier 3 - Customized Learning Interventions
Co:Writer will reinforce language structure by having the predict ahead feature turned on. Create a practice activity where students focus on sentence structure. Start with a high level of support by having Co:Writer predict grammatically-correct word choices based on the part of speech of the previous word. Later, you can scaffold the assignment by turning off this preference to monitor the student’s response to the intervention.
