Bass Switch Review, June 16, 2009

By Beth Sellers, Virginia

Don Johnston BASS Review. Product Setting: Across school settings. Skill Development: Cause and effect, computer access, access to communication device, partner assisted scanner, two switch step scanning, access to toys, etc.

This is my favorite simple switch, especially for computer access. It mounts nicely onto the universal mount with the small rectangular plate (and velcro).  It's unobtrusive and simple, but works every time. The only disadvantage is that the student has to activate the front part of the switch.

Don Johnston BASS Review. Product Setting: Residential campus setting. Skill Development: Improving switch access for a client with very limited mobility.

My client has multiple developmental delays, specifically falling in the low-incidence category.  She is able to access a switch with her hand; however, can only apply limited pressure.  This switch requires just that and gives her the opportunity to access something independently!
