Microsoft Settlement
An extensive class-action lawsuit filed against Microsoft resulted in $2.5 billion worth of vouchers for consumers and businesses in 18 states and the District of Columbia. The majority of this money went unclaimed, so the states are holding millions of dollars in funds. In most states, 50% of the unclaimed funds are going to schools to purchase software and hardware. Each state is handling these funds differently. A few states have already released these funds and many more will announce how this money will be spent in 2007.
Here is the list of participating states:
Arizona • Arkansas • California • District of Columbia • Florida • Kansas • Massachusetts • Minnesota • Montana • Nebraska • New Mexico • New York North Carolina • North Dakota • South Dakota • Tennessee • Vermont • West Virginia • Wisconsin
