FACELAND Surprise, Anger,
Fear, Disgust, Sadness and Happiness are emotions that most of us can
easily recognize without much thought. This is not the case for many
students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger’s. For these
students, recognizing expressions of emotion is a skill that must be
taught. FACELAND trains students to recognize and interpret facial
expressions, and ultimately, identify the emotions behind those
expressions.
FACELAND teaches the six most basic human emotions through 11 different
activities using 1000 real life faces! FACELAND goes on to teach
students to break the face down into the three regions—eyes/eyebrows,
nose/cheek and mouth/ chin—to look for clues.
The activities are presented in engaging and motivating amusement park
environment, and are randomized through diverse examples to keep
students from memorizing. Progress tracking provides data about correct
and incorrect responses for each emotion and activity
